MARIVELES – The Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) held Tuesday a premiere night and judging of 10 short films all with location shootings in the province, especially here where the FAB under the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) operates.

Lawyer Percival Peralta of the Office of the AFAB administrator explained how they thought of the film festival.

“Unang – una kasi galing ako sa kagaya ng economic zone authority where there was a time we were doing things like this dati. Ngayon when I was already here sa AFAB, I gave the idea na why don’t we try this because ang location ng AFAB ay para sa magagandang story so we adapt this activity and right now hopefully, it is going to be successful,” the lawyer said.

“First time ito dito sa AFAB.  May mga prizes and during the awards night, bibigyan natin sila. Screening time is 15 to 20 minutes per film.  No foreigner,  this is how we display the talent of locals. I think mostly or majority of the cast and film makers taga dito sa Bataan,” Peralta added.

AFAB administrator & CEO Mohammed Hussein Pangandaman said that the same place where people build and innovate  will also be a place where  stories are made.

He said that  for exactly 16 years this month,  the Freeport Area of Bataan has been shipping industries and livelihood being an investment promotion agency under the office of the President.

“AFAB’s  mandate is to open opportunities for business, for employment and for growth but for us,  progress also depends on imagination on people’s ability to think differently and express what matters to them  and what we are going to see tonight is a reflection of that,” Pangandaman said.

“Each  film whether based on reality or fiction,  all the stories are proof that creativity belongs here. The FAB has  always been a place of production but is also the place of people and people will always find ways to create, to tell stories, to leave something meaningful behind.  We are grateful to our FAB enterprises who opened their doors to the film makers and allowed their facilities and spaces to become part of the story telling,” the administrator said.

“Bataan is alive,  brave and capable of standing on any stage. Of  course the  team, panel of judges we extend our great deepest appreciation. Our friends from the media, thank you for being here to witness and share these stories for a wider audience and as we marked FAB 16th anniversary,”Pangandaman continued.

“We also honor the people who continue to shape each story, the makers and the dreamers who keep this community alive. Ang diwa ng FAB  ay nasa bawat taong marunong lumikha at magtaguyod sa bawat produkto, serbisyo o  ideyang nabubuo dito,” he furthered.

Buhay rin ang husay at dedikasyon ng mamamayan nito. Patuloy nating gawing tahanan ang FAB ng paglikha at pag-unlad kung saan may puwang ang bawat kwento, sipag at pangarap ng bawat Pilipino,” Pangandaman said. (30)
