Free WiFi for All program launched in Mabalacat

MABALACAT CITY — Mabalaqueños can now have access to the world wide web through the Department of Information and Communications Technology’s (DICT) free WiFi for all program.

This after DICT, in partnership with the city government here, launched the Free Wi-Fi For All program of the national government at the Dau Bus Terminal here on Tuesday.

The agency’s Free Wi-Fi For All program was simultenously launched in selected public places i nationwide.

The program is in line with the 100-day assumption of Secretary Gregorio B. Honasan II as head of the DICT.

Of the 15 WiFi sites, one is already operational as of Tuesday. Next in line are Mabalacat City College,Resettlement Parks and the City Hall.

The DICT has earlier partnered with the Mabalacat city government for the rollout of free Wi-Fi internet services in the city.

DICT Regional Director, Luzon Cluster 2 Engr. Reynaldo T. Sy thanked Mayor Crisostomo Garbo and the local gov’t for their unwavering support and cooperation in the said project.

For his part, MIS Head Carlo Aurelio also thanked DICT for making Mabalacat as one of pilot cities for its free WiFi project.

The national government has earmarked P1.3 billion for the DICT’s free WiFi project, which aims to put up 100,000 sites all over the country by 2022.
