BALANGA CITY — The provincial government of Bataan on Friday opened a wheelchair repair shop at the Capitol compound here in time for the celebration of the International Day of People with Disabilities.
Gov. Albert Garcia said the province was the first in the country to establish a wheelchair repair shop that offers free services in the repair of assistive devices used by PWDs in their daily activities.
“Bahagi ito ng pagsusumikap na sa pag-unlad ng lalawigan ay walang Bataeno ang maiiwan. Makakaasa ang lahat na tutugunan ng provincial government ang pangangailangan ng bawat mamamayan lalo na ang mga higit na nangangailangan.” the governor said.
Joining the governor in the inauguration of the new repair shop were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter–Day Saints led by charities services head Sister Lya Lucila and Orion Stake president Benjie Pajanustan.
The LDS church is known for helping PWDs in the province like providing wheelchairs.
Also in attendance were provincial social welfare and development office head Marilyn Tigas, Dr. Bong Galicia, sangguniang panlalawigan committee on health chairman and members of the provincial council on disability affairs.
Members of the Samahan ng Taong may Kapansanan sa Bataan who were also present were thankful to Garcia and the others for not neglecting them.
