JAEN, Nueva Ecija – Three repair stations for bicycles were put up by the Rotary Club of Jaen in coordination with the local government in strategic areas here amid the unabated increase in oil prices.

Atty. Sylvester Austria, the club’s charter president and incoming municipal vice mayor, said the free bike repair stations are in support of residents who use bikes as inexpensive and healthy mode of transportation.

“Siyempre sa taas ng presyo ng gasolina at krudo ay mas na-encourage nito ang paggamit ng bike,” Austria said, noting the number of people biking continues to rise.

“Yun po ang purpose nitong public bike stations, makatulong sa mga bikers at mai-promote natin yung cycling as an alternative mode of transportation,”  he said.

“Yung iba (bikers) naiwanan ang tools, walang tools at sa kalagitnaan ng kalsada ay walang mapuntahan na repair shop (pag nasiraan),” he said.

Located at the municipal hall compound, San Agustin Parish, and the barangay hall of Lambakin, each station is equipped with tools, including air pump, that a biker can freely use in a do-it-yourself setup.
