Frat pioneer killed

    CABANATUAN CITY – A member of the Nueva Ecija government’s civil security unit (CSU) and also a Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity active member was killed inside his house at Mabini St., Barangay Quezon District here Saturday night, police reported.

    Supt. Eliseo Cruz, city police chief, identified the victim as Edgar Einstein Valerio, 30.

    Investigation showed Valerio was watching a mahjong at the sala of his house at about 10:00 p.m. Saturday when a gunman suddenly appeared and without saying anything peppered him with bullets.

    Witnesses said they saw another man driving a motorcycle when the gunman fled.

    Police investigators here and the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered four empty shells from cal. 45 and a deformed slug from the crime scene.

    Police said the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds in his chest and abdomen.

    The victim’s live in partner is also a member of the fraternity. Valerio was a pioneering member of the Tau Gamma Phi in a school chapter here, police added.

    Edgar Valerio, brother of the victim and Tau Gamma Phi’s vice governor general for Central Luzon, said “the family seeks for immediate delivery of justice.”

    He said that prior to his death, Valerio was in charge of the fraternity’s projects in the fourth district of Nueva Ecija.

    As a CSU, his brother’s job includes screening of government scholars, he said.

    Police investigation also showed that a “suspicious male persons” were seen taking photographs of the victim in recent meetings of the fraternity.
