CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – The leading distributor of commercial vehicles in Asia opened its branch here on Tuesday, as its owners expressed confidence in the local market.
Allen Ong, general manager of Foton-San Fernando branch, said “business is thriving in Pampanga and Kapampangans are good and intelligent traders.”
He added that “if they will be educated about Foton products, they would definitely buy from us.”
Ong said that aside from the fact that their vehicles consume less fuels compared to others, their prices are lower.”
He added that a Foton delivery truck cost about P0.5 million but the same vehicle with another brand cost at least P1 million.
“They have quality just like the best ones,” Ong said.
The Foton official said they use the technology of Japanese-made engines. He added that it was combined with Foton technology which originated in China.
Gov. Lilia “Baby” Pineda, one of the guests of honor together with Mayor Oscar Rodriguez, said “investors are in good hands in Pampanga.”
She added that the provincial government “are ready to assists interested businesses and help those who are already operating in Pampanga.”
Rodriguez, for his part, said that “the number of businesses in San Fernando have increased significantly since he became mayor in 2004.”
He added that this is due to the “friendly approach of the city with businessmen.”
“Absolutely no “kotong” when you apply for business,” stressed Rodriguez, whose administration won numerous citations for being friendly to traders.
Rommel Sytin, president of Foton Philippines, assured interested buyers of “customer satisfaction.”
He disclosed that Foton is the second leading seller of commercial vehicles in the world.
Sytin said the first Foton branch in Central Luzon opened in Nueva Ecija last year. He added that Foton vehicles were introduced in the country in 2007.
Sytin joined Foton-San Fernando President George Ong, Chua, Pineda and Rodriguez in the ceremonial ribbon-cutting to open the branch.
Among the guests were Board Members Trina Dizon and Monz Laus and Eddie Chua, president of the Fil-Chinese Chamber of Commerce
