CLARK FREEPORT — President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed a retired police official to the top post of the Clark Development Corp.
The president appointed on Tuesday retired Brig. Gen. Manuel Gaerlan as president and CEO of the state-run firm CDC which administers, manages, and develops the Clark Freeport Zone.
Prior to his appointment to the top CDC post, Gaerlan was appointed as director of the agency on February 28.
Gaerlan served as police deputy regional director for operations of Central Luzon, chief of the Davao Police Regional Office and officer-in-charge of the Pampanga Police Office.
His stint as Pampanga police OIC-director lasted for only three weeks, replacing then-Senior Supt. Oscar Albayalde who was relieved from his post in March 2014 by then PNP regional director Brig. Gen. Raul Petrasanta arising from the controversy involving the illegal drug buy-bust operation that implicated his men for command responsibility.
Albayalde rose to become PNP chief but that controversy during his Pampanga watch caused his downfall.
Gaerlan belongs to the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1985.
