SUBIC BAY FREEPORT — A 56-year–old male foreigner is the first Covid-19 fatality among residents of the freeport.
In her Covid Update No. 32, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority chair and administrator Wilma Eisma said the patient was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital on Oct. 3, but was found positive of the coronavirus disease post mortem on October 5.
Eisma said contact tracing has been initiated to identify the victim’s close contacts and determine necessary disinfection/decontamination measures.
As of Oct. 5, there were 28 confirmed cases among the freeport residents, seven of which were active, 20 had recovered, and one death.
Among Subic freeport transients and guests, 21 confirmed cases were listed with four still active and 17 already recovered.
