CASTILLEJOS, Zambales — The Department of Public Works and Highways-
Zambales 2nd District Engineering Office has already completed a 336-linear
meter slope protection structure at the existing river wall along Pamatawan River
here.
Zambales 2nd DEO chief Engr. Rosbe Dizon said the newly constructed flood
mitigation structure helps prevent river bank erosion and flood protection to
Castillejos town and other nearby flood-prone areas.
The P77.2-million project was funded under the 2022 General Appropriation Act
and was finished ahead of schedule.
“We know that habagat (southwest monsoon) rains could raise water levels in
major waterways in the province such as the Pamatawan River and could cause
severe flooding, we hope this flood control project will provide additional
protection to residents especially those living in low-lying areas,” Dizon said.
