ORION, Bataan – Some P1-million cash and properties turned into ashes after a fire razed a residential building here on Sunday morning.

Erlindo Canoy, a retired member of the Philippine Navy, said everything in their house except a laptop computer were turned into ashes by the blaze.

“It started from the third bedroom at about 8:30 a.m. We lost some P.7 million worth of properties and P.3 million cash.”

He said that he and his wife were in the market to buy food to prepare for the birthday celebration of their son who turned 26 on Sunday.

Senior Insp. Genesis Morrondoz, Orion fire chief, said they received a call at 9:10 a.m. and immediately rushed to Canoy’s place.

He said the fire reached second alarm but was declared out at 9:50 a.m. Firetrucks from Balanga City, Limay and Pilar towns also came to help.

Firefighters managed to contain the fire but window panes of the neighboring house was destroyed.

Residents noted that there were no rains while the fire was raging unlike the previous night and the day before that there were heavy downpours.
