Where’s the river?
So, we asked here only last Aug. 1 with the confluence of two creeks in reality – as spanned by two bridges less than a hundred meters apart in Sto. Rosario (Pau), Sto. Tomas, Pampanga – downstream the City of San Fernando completely covered and constricted by a dense overgrowth of water hyacinths.
And ranted: It does not take an engineering genius to see a major calamity waiting to happen to the capital city and the adjacent towns at the onset of rains if these rivers will not be cleared and dredged. ASAP.
ASAP did come to act on the issue the DPWH and the LGUs of the City of San Fernando and Sto. Tomas, notably vice mayor Matias Pineda and his wife, Pau barangay chair Karen. Now, here’s the river – cleared of constricting vegetation, free flowing, awaiting typhoon Rolly’s rains, and Siony’s too. Bong Z. Lacson/Nov. 1, 2020
