Filing of COC for BSK polls start

SAMAL, Bataan — The municipal offices of the Commission on Elections in Bataan officially opened doors Monday, August 28, for the start of the filing of certificate of candidacy (CoC) for the barangay and sangguniang kabataan elections set on October 30, 2023.  

To be elected are a punong barangay and seven kagawad and a chairperson and seven members of the SK for every barangay.

In Samal, candidates started as early as 7 in the morning to file their CoCs at the Comelec office. Poll offices are open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m from August 28 to September 2 to accept COC filing.

Meanwhile, the Bataan police and Comelec set up checkpoints also on Monday in different areas of the province in relation to the upcoming polls. 

Col. Palmer Tria, Bataan police director, and provincial election supervisor Atty. Chris Ian Silva, led in the simultaneous launch. 

Tria said the setting of Comelec checkpoints in different areas of the province is part of government’s efforts to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and promote a peaceful and democratic society. 

In Samal, town police chief Captain Gilcerio Dizon, Jr., and municipal election officer Maribeth Abadecio headed the launching of the Comelec checkpoint.
