Fernandinos urged to practice healthy living

“LAGI KONG sinasabi na aanhin mo ang isang progresibong syudad, kung ang mga naninirahan naman dito ay mahina at sakitin, kaya naman isa sa mga prayoridad ng aking agenda ang ‘kalusugan’ kung saan sinisiguro natin at hinihikayat ang bawat Fernandino na mamuhay ng malusog at masigla upang makaiwas sa anumang sakit,” Santiago said during his speech on Monday’s flag raising ceremony.

Santiago together with Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, City Councilor Nelson Lingat, City Health Officer Dr. Eloisa Aquino, Sangguniang Kabataan Federation President Gustav John Henson, Rural Health Physicians, members of the City Nutrition Council and some city hall department heads led the unveiling of calendar of activities, as the City Government of San Fernando joins the nation in celebrating the 44th Nutrition Month.

Dubbed “Ugaliing Magtanim, Sapat na Nutrisyon Aanihin”, the City Government of San Fernando through its City Nutrition Council linedup various activities and programs to promote good nutrition and to reiterate the importance of healthy living towards a fit and strong community.

On July 6, there will be a Corn Cassava Festival followed by the Launching and Technical Briefing on Container Farming and Edible Landscaping for Health Centers and Workers on July 11.

Master chefs may showcase their skills on Eggsterifi c-Egg Cooking Challenge which will be held on July 13.

The Launching and Technical Briefi ng on Container Farming and Edible Landscaping-ECCD, Smoke-free Community, School Integration: Quiz Bee, Poster Making and Dance Exercise will take place on July 18.

Meanwhile, the launching and Technical Briefing on Container Farming and Edible Landscaping-Community and Household and Nutri-Quiz and Poster Making Contest will be on July 20.

On July 24, simultaneous activities will be conducted such as; “Bibo Kid 2018”, and Launching and Technical Briefing on Season-long Farmers Field School on Organic Corp Production with First level Certification Rules and Regulations.

Health and wellness activities including Inter- Barangay Zumbaers Biggest Loser Challenge 3rd Season and Best Hataw Fitness Program Exercise (Teachers Edition) will take place on July 25 and July 26.

On July 27, Healthiest Preggy Fernandina will be recognize followed by the Awarding of Inputs for Gulayan Project.

Meanwhile, the launching of Barangay Base Dietary Supplementation Program in different barangays of the city will take place on the whole month of July.

While, the First 1000 Days Program Year 2 will start on July to December this year by monitoring all the mothers in their breastfeeding and early literacy program in partnership with San Miguel Foundation.

The Nutrition Month celebration will culminate on July 30, through an Awarding of Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Council and Barangay Nutrition Scholar.

Also, in line with the celebration, is ‘The Big Latch-on’, a global simultaneous breastfeeding activity which will be held on August 3.

‘Sabay-sabay natin gampanan ang ating responsibilidad upang makamit natin ang ating layunin na Malusog na Fernandino, Masiglang Pamumuhay ay Sigurado,” Santiago ended.
