Fernandinos campaign for prov’l cultural center

    CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – In order to create awareness for the need to establish the Kapampangan Cultural Center (KCC), the Foundation for Lingap Kapampangan Inc. (FLKI) will hold a cultural presentation next month right at the site of the project in Barangay Sto. Niño here.

    The press conference yesterday at the proposed KCC which was the old site of the Pampanga High School was also an occasion for the simple 60th birthday celebration of FLKI ViceChairman Jose “Babes” T. Lazatin who is also the senior vice president and general manager of the San Fernando Light and Power Co. (Sfelapco).

    Lazatin said with more than P30 million needed to complete the building for the museum, the FLKI would like to raise the awareness of Fernandinos on their cultural heritage.

    “It is about time that we leave a legacy to the younger generation that can truly reflect our Kapampangan culture,” Lazatin said. “I am so honored to be part of this press conference on my birthday to raise the cultural awareness of the Fernandinos.”

    Ma. Theresa T. Laus, FLKI secretary said the museum is part of their family’s advocacy that can represent Kapampangan pride. She said the establishment of the KCC will greatly contribute to countryside development which is among their advocacies. Laus, who is also a member of the City Tourism  soul of a people is their culture which can be showcased by the establishment of the KCC museum.

    Engr. Marni Castro, FLKI Trustee, said the Sinukwan Dance Troupe headed by Peter De Vera will hold a cultural presentation next month at the KCC site to attract attention to the project and help generate funds.

    “It’s a fund-raising project for a cause,” he said. Also present during the press conference, hosted by Irwin Nucum and Ching Pangilinan, were Vice Mayor Jimmy T. Lazatin, FLKI president Dr. Lourdes Javier, Board of Trustee Loy David and Executive Director Fer Caylao.

    The proposed KCC museum will retain the façade of the Pampanga High School when completed.
