CITY OF SAN FERNANDO—Cabalen artist Kean Carlo Rueda Guinto, 27, opened his first solo exhibit titled Guintong Papel: A Story Concealed in Folded Papers at Capital Town by Megaworld.
The showcase highlights Guinto’s mastery in paper quilling through works that explore three-dimensional isometric projection, hyper-detailed filigree, space-consciousness, multilayered aesthetics, textured finishes, and vibrant color palettes. Among his standout pieces is The Koi Whisperer, a testament to his technical skill and creative depth.
Guinto discovered paper quilling in 2015, though his artistic journey began at age 12 through drawing. His work has since gained recognition locally and internationally, including features on national television, radio, and social media. Today, his pieces are collected both in the Philippines and abroad.
Expressing gratitude for the support he has received, Guinto said, “Continue pursuing your dream, challenges may be rough yet we can overcome them, so do not stop pursuing our dream.”
The exhibit was presented with the support of Mayor Vilma Caluag, City Tourism Officer Ching Pangilinan, and Megaworld AVP for Corporate Affairs Dane Samson-Sayson.
The City Government of San Fernando recognizes Guinto’s cultural and artistic contribution as a paper quilling artist whose innovations combine graphic design with traditional filigree, creating sophisticated artworks that elevate folded papers into fine art.
