CABANATUAN CITY – A composite team from the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office arrested a 45-year-old farmer who allegedly yielded an arms cache, including grenades, in Barangay Antipolo, Bongabon town at around 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

Col. Ferdinand Germino, provincial police chief, said the suspect whose name was withheld pending follow-up investigation was placed under the custody of the Bongabon police station.

Germino said joint elements from town police, 1st provincial mobile force company, and provincial explosive ordnance division implemented a search warrant that resulted to the seizure of arms

“During the search, authorities recovered several firearms, ammunition, and drug paraphernalia,” Germino said.

Among the firearms reportedly seized from the suspect were one .45 pistol, three hand grenades, several rounds of live bullets for various kinds of firearms and magazines for M16 and M1 rifles.

Operatives also recovered drug paraphernalia such as glass tooters, sachets of suspected shabu, and digital weighing scales, according to Germino.

The recovered items and the arrested suspect were immediately brought to Bongabon PS, while the hand grenades are now in the custody of the NE-PECU.

The suspect will face charges for violations of RA 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), and RA 9516 (Unlawful Possession of Explosives) and RA 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).
