SAN ANTONIO, Nueva Ecija – A 59-year-old farmer was gunned down in front of fellow agricultural workers in broad daylight in Barangay Sto. Cristo here Monday.
Police said victim Efren Nicolas, resident of the said barangay, was talking with other farmers when shot to death by two masked men at about 11:30 a.m.
The suspects were riding a blue motorcycle, witnesses said.
Town police chief Major Ramil Ebarle reported that the victim died instantly due to gunshot wounds while the suspects “fled towards unknown direction.”
Ebarle said a follow up investigation is being conducted for possible apprehension of the suspects.
Relatives said that a sibling of the victim was killed also in a gun attack in November 2017. His case remains unsolved.
