ALIAGA, Nueva Ecija – A former village councilman who surrendered under the government’s reformatory Oplan Tokhang was gunned down by riding–in–tandem suspects in Barangay San Juan here at about 5:40 a.m. Saturday.
Police identified the victim as Eduardo Simeon, 58, married and resident of the said place.
SSgt. Miguel Antonio Reymundo, investigator, said the victim was in front of his house for his usual morning jog when fired at by the suspects.
The victim was able to run away but the suspects chased the victim and shot him consecutively resulting to his instantaneous death,” Reymundo reported.
investigation showed Simeon, was formerly included in the municipal police’s drug watchlist who enrolled to Bahay Pagbabago in 2019. He was also linked to an unspecified crime gang.
The suspects are now subject of a manhunt, said Reymundo.
