ANGELES CITY- After former President Gloria Macapagal- Arroyo’s declaration that the resignation of Vice Pres. Leni Robredo from the Cabinet was “not surprising,” her husband former first gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo urged Robredo to “thank the President for keeping you in the Cabinet for five months.”

He also accused the vice president of lacking “delicadeza.”

“You should not complain because you, of all people, are only the Cabinet member who attacks your boss (the President) in public whenever you disagree with him,” said Arroyo in his Facebook account posted yesterday morning.

Arroyo noted that “no president would have the patience of Pres. Digong to keep a subordinate who attacks him publicly while in the Cabinet.”

He said “you should have resigned long ago if you had any delicadeza. Sad to say, you didn’t.”

“Madam Leni, lest you forget, all Cabinet members serve at the pleasure of the President. You are not an exception,” he also said.

Earlier, his wife, who is now congresswoman representing Pampanga’s second district, said “the resignation was inevitable because of their divergence on so many important issues.”

“And when I was vice president, as long as I was a member of the Cabinet under Estrada, I resisted from making any critical remarks about him. And when I can no longer avoid that, then I tendered my resignation,” said Arroyo, who resigned from the Cabinet in 2001 during the jueteng payoff scandals that led to the ouster of Estrada.

Robredo was the vice presidential candidate of the Liberal Party, headed by former President Benigno Aquino III who had supported the plunder case that led to the four year hospital detention of Mrs. Arroyo.

Mrs. Arroyo has openly thanked Pres. Duterte for the dismissal of her case and her freedom.
