CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — Former Pampanga provincial board member Ferdinand “Dinan” Labung has officially announced his intention to run for mayor of Sta. Ana, Pampanga.

In an interview on Talakayan Ngayon at dwRW 95.1 on Aug. 22, Labung said the mayoralty would provide him additional means to help more people in the town, and the authority to implement high-impact projects like hospitals and additional school buildings.

Labung is an engineer by profession and the proprietor of a top construction firm renowned for its hospital projects.

He said that he has transferred residency and voter’s registration to Sta. Ana before he even entertained thoughts of seeking the mayorship. In the last barangay elections, Labung already voted in San Nicolas his domicile now in Sta. Ana.

Labung started his political career over 30 years ago as barangay chairman of San Antonio in his native town of Bacolor, whence he was catapulted to the provincial board representing in multiple terms Pampanga’s 3rd District covering the towns of Bacolor, Mexico, Sta. Ana, and Arayat and the City of San Fernando.

He had twice failed in his bid for a congressional seat, first against now-Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales Jr., and second as first nominee of the Malabung Partylist in the last elections.

It was during his stint as board member though that Labung took a keen interest on the development potentials of Sta. Ana, notwithstanding it being one of the smallest municipalities of Pampanga.

In his interview over dwRW 95.1, Labung also presented his full ticket of incumbent and comebacking town officials, with consistent top councilor Rhodora “Oday” Nacpil for vice mayor, and Jerome Gaddi, Gio Mesina, Alvio Pangilinan, Myriam Lansangan, Tek Concepcion, Vergel Mallari, Alex Pasion, and Reinhart “Soy” Guevarra for councilors.

Guevarra had even served as Sta. Ana vice mayor but lost to incumbent and now three term mayor Norberto “Ross” Gamboa in 2022.
