MALOLOS CITY – If Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile has his way, he will go easy on investigating former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her husband, Miguel.
“Kung ako ang magpapasya, mas gusto ko na ipagpaliban muna ang mga usapin tungkol kay GMA,” said Enrile referring to the former President.
Enrile visited this city yesterday as the guest speaker in the 433rd founding anniversary of Bulacan as a province.
He said that investigations on the former President should continue after she fully recovered.
“Alam ninyo, ang mga Pilipino ay maawain, we can do it later, baka magkaroon ng backlash ngayon,” he said.
He echoed the same on former First Gentleman Miguel Arroyo who has been implicated on the sale of helicopters to the Philippine National Police (PNP).
“Sabi ko sa mga kasama ko sa Senado, dahan-dahan kay FG, dahil may lamat ang puso niya,” the Senate President said.
He stressed “kung abutan yan sa harap namin, malaking dagok sa Senado yan.”
Despite his calls for sobriety in investigating the Arroyo’s, Enrile said that inquiries must continue. He stressed that the people have the right to know the truth.
Enrile also said that he don’t care on who will be affected by the investigation saying, “kailangang palitawin ang totoo at tamaan ang tatamaan.”
With regards to the possibility of resigned Senator Miguel Zubiri as witness in the 2007 electoral fraud, he said that the former senator can only be a witness if he knows who committed the fraud.
Enrile also commented on newly sworn Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III who replaced Zubiri.
He said that Koko was smart enough and learned from his father and needs no advise on what to do at the Senate.
Enrile also said that Pimentel III has to coordinate with lone party-mate Senator Serge Osmena with regards to his possible committee chairmanship.
“He said he is not with the minority or with the majority, and that means he is with himself or with his partymate,” Enrile said.
