Encantadia 2016 tells the story of sisterhood, family, and a great forbidden love that bridges two different worlds—that of humans and the magical world of Encantadia.
This requel (remake + sequel) directed by Mark Reyes is topbilled by Kylie Padilla, Gabbi Garcia, Sanya Lopez, and Glaiza de Castro.
Playing special roles are Kapuso Primetime King and Queen Dingdong Dantes and Marian Rivera-Dantes as Raquim and Ynang Reyna Minea, respectively.
Encantadia’s budget is equivalent to two or three GMA-7 shows.
How big is the budget of Encantadia?
‘Three non-primetime shows or two primetime shows, ganyan kalaki ang budget namin,’ disclosed Direk Mark Reyes.
‘We’re double the size or triple the size of a regular show.
The scope is big, you saw the pilot.
‘What you didn’t see was the second episode where we had a great war na ang dami talaga nila.
‘Siguro I had 200 people on the set, excluding the stuntmen and the actors.’
Direk Mark Reyes says this epic telefantasya is being shot in various locations: a studio in Makati, Tanay, Rizal; the cave containing petroglyphs in Tanay, Rizal;
Fortune Island in Nasubgu, Batangas; and Pundaquit in Zambales; as well as Batlag Falls and Daranak Falls.
They also have plans to shoot in Ilocos. Fortune Island, which is famous for its Grecian pillars, will serve as the island of Cassiopeia as seen in the pilot episode of Encantadia.
The characters of Sanya Lopez, Glaiza de Castro, Kylie Padilla and Gabbi Garcia were originally portrayed by Diana Zubiri, Sunshine Dizon, Iza Calzado, and Karylle, respectively, in the 2005 version. In the 2016 version, Sunshine joins the cast as a new character named Adhara.
Pirena (Glaiza de Castro) is the keeper of the fire gem and the eldest among the four sisters. Passionate and outspoken, the fiery Pirena wishes to become the next queen of the diwatas.
However, she feels neglected by her mother’s decision to choose her sister, Amihan. Amihan (Kylie Padilla) is the keeper of the gem of air.
She is known for being mature and nurturing as she protects her loved ones no matter what. Raised by her father in the land of mortals, Amihan learned to be an independent thinker–a characteristic envied by her sisters.
Gabbi Garcia breathes life into the character of Alena, the third among the four, who keeps the water gem.
Romantic and carefree, Alena lives to love and to find that one person who will complete her.
She finds that love in Ybarro (Ruru Madrid), a charismatic Barbaro whose past is as much a mystery to him, as it is to her.
The fearless and headstrong Danaya, portrayed by Sanya Lopez, is the youngest among the four.
Danaya keeps the earth jewel and has an unwavering sense of justice. Ruru Madrid plays Ybarro who initially does not know that he has royal blood.
According to Ruru,he will be the love interest of Gabbi but his character will also father the child of Kylie Padilla’s character.
Their daughter will grow up to be known as Lira (played by Mikee Quintos).
Max Collins plays a new character named Amihan.
She is the sister of Ynang Reyna Minea (played by Marian Rivera).
In the pilot episode, it wil be seen how Amihan the First greatly affected the life of Ynang Reyna Max gets to showcase her martial arts skills in the pilot episode of Encantadia.
Solenn Heussaff plays Cassiopeia, the queen of Lireo who divided the brilyante into four gems that were distributed to the four kingdoms of Encantadia.
Sanya, Gabbi, Glaiza, and Kylie all have their own ways of maintaining their sexy figures.
Glaiza likes to run around the University of the Philippines campus.
Sanya does cardio and pushups and works out her abs.
She also says that training for arnis allows her to burn more calories.
Rochelle Pangilinan plays Agane, the rightand woman of Hagorn, the leader of Hathoria.
According to Rochelle, her character makes use of small knives that are attached to her costume.
Kapampangan actor Roi Vinzon plays Arvak who led the Hathors in conquering the kingdom of Adamya.
Rocco Nacino plays Aquil, the head of the army in Lireo. Rocco’s Aquil is the love interest of Danaya.
When asked about his love life, the actor said that Encantadia is his girlfriend now.
Pancho Magno plays Hitano Christian Bautista plays Apitong, the foster father of Ybarro.
Ruru refers to the singer-actor as Kuya Christian. Buboy Villar plays Wantuk, the sidekick of Ybarro.
Neil Ryan Sese plays Asval Ultimate Female Survivor of StarStruck 6 Klea Pineda plays Muyak. Muyak is the pixie fairy who is the dama (yaya) of Sang’gre Alena.
Vaness del Moral plays Gurna, the dama who plants evil thoughts in the mind of Pirena. Kate Valdez plays Mira.
Mikee Quintos plays Lira. Ultimate Male Survivor of StarStruck 6 Migo Adecer is cast as Anthony. James Teng plays Pako.
Ana Feleo is cast as Ades.
Carlo Gonzalez plays Muros, a Lirean soldier who goes into battle with Aquil (Rocco).
In the pilot episode, Imaw is faced with the difficult choice of protecting the water gem and the people of Adamya.
