The other actor is Anjo Damiles, who recently signed a contract with GMA-7 after being with ABS-CBN and Star Magic.

Ahron started his career in ABS-CBN’s variety show Magandang Tanghali Bayan, via its contest called “TV Idol: Ur ‘D Pair.”

DENNIS TRILLO is cast as a surfer-turned-drug dealer in the crime-comedy film titled Mina-Anud.

After Alden Richards, Dennis Trillo is the next GMA-7 actor who will do a movie with ABS-CBN’s film production arm, Star Cinema.

The Kapuso actor disclosed this during his recent press conference held at the Valencia Events Place.

Dennis revealed that he will be working on a horror movie with Star Cinema.

According to a report, the movie will be titled A Family Ghost Story.

This horror movie will also star Alyssa Muhlach, Raymond Bagatsing, and Beauty Gonzalez.

Apart from this, Dennis will be seen in a crime-comedy film titled Mina-Anud, which will be the closing film of the 2019 Cinemalaya Film Festival.

The movie will be screened at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) on August 10.

Matteo Guidicelli and Jerald Napoles also top-bill this film directed by Kerwin Go.

Matteo’s character named Paul is an aspiring celebrity and TV show host who deals party drugs to Manila’s elite and showbiz circles.

Based on true events, Mina-Anud is about two local surfers (played by Dennis and Jerald) who must decide if the lure of a richer tomorrow is really worth risking both family and freedom.

They are caught in a dilemma when three tons of cocaine wash up on the shores of their seaside community in Eastern Samar.

Hundreds of cocaine bricks get washed up on the shores and the fishermen and surfers suddenly become cocaine peddlers being chased by the police.

Dennis takes pride in being part of this film.

“Masayang gumawa…walang nagkalakas ng loob at nakaisip gumawa ng ganitong klaseng pelikula at marami silang matututunang aral dito.

“Biruin niyo, nangyari ito 2009 at hanggang ngayon nangyayari pa rin.”

He pointed out this movie was created “para maging aware ang mga tao kung paano kontrolin nang mapadpad ang mga illegal na bagay na mga ito sa mga isla at madaming inosenteng buhay ng tao.”

Dennis desribed his character by saying, “Ako si Ding, isang local ng Samar, isang surfer. Struggling provider sa anak at asawa niya, kaya nung nakita yung pagkakataon na kikita siya ng mas malaki at maiaangkat ang buhay ng pamilya niya, at kahit illegal yung papasukin niya, ay sumugal siya.”

He added, “Makikita niyo yung mga consequences na nangyari sa kanya pagkakasangkot niya dun.”

The actor-singer then explained why the film is titled Mina-Anud.

“Nangyari itong kaganapan ito nung 2009 sa isla ng Samar na kung tawagin ay Mina-Anud… may tunog siyang may naanod.”

Although the film has a serious theme, Dennis pointed out that it has a lot of funny moments.

“Sa bigat ng tema nitong pelikula, minabuti ng direktor namin na maging light yung approach niya. Ginawa niyang medyo dark. Black comedy ang atake niya… marami pa ring nakakatawang eksena.”

Alvin Anson, Mara Lopez, Anthony Falcon, Marc Felix, Lou Veloso, Richard Manabat, Dionne Monsanto, Elia Ilano, Lui Manansala, and champion surfer Luke Landrigan complete the cast of Mina-Anud.

As for his other plans, Dennis disclosed his keen interest in going behind the cameras. He wants to direct and produce films in the future.
