ORION, Bataan – An employee of the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (Penelco)was gunned down Tuesday early morning by two motorcycle-riding men in front of their house in Calungusan here.

Police Officer 2 Erwin Ramil, Orion police investigator, identified the victim as Angelito Gunio, 49, foreman of Penelco. He sustained four gunshot wounds on the head, legs and other parts of the body and died on the spot.

Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered four empty shells of caliber .45.

Investigation showed that one of two men shot the victim who was about to leave the place for work at about 6:45 in the morning. The other suspect waited at their Honda Wave motorcycle which has no plate number.

The investigator said the gunman wore a hat and a T-shirt while the one on standby at the motorcycle had a crash helmet and wears a jacket.

Yolanda Gunio said she could not understand why her husband should be killed when he was only performing his duty as leader of an apprehension team of Penelco that goes after illegal electric connections.

“Hindi nagkukuwento sa akin kung may banta sa kanyang buhay sapagka’t ayaw niya akong nag-aalala at lagi niyang sinasabi sa akin na ‘trabaho lang ito’, the wife said.

She said her husband told her “nay aalis na ako” and moments later she heard four gun shots that she thought came from firecrackers or tires.

Sr. Insp. George Santiago, Orion police chief, said investigations and the hunt for the killers are ongoing.
