ANGELES CITY – A Pampanga-based firm launched ClassDrive, a Learning
Management System (LMS) designed to make education in public schools more
accessible, convenient, effective and cost-friendly.
Marcia Hernandez, president of the Global Access Learning Solutions, Inc. (GALS), together with the Rotary Club of Mabalacat successfully introduced last month the ClassDrive at selected public schools in
Mabalacat City. She disclosed that the Rotary Club of Mabalacat adopted and supported the GALS’ LMS.
Among those who benefited are students of Mabalacat Technical Vocational School and Senior High School within Sapang Biabas Resettlement Elementary School.
Hernandez said Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo expressed interest in the LMS and he is planning to use it for other public schools in city to make learning more accessible.
“We are committed to giving access to education and skills training throughout different types of platforms, we aim to topple barriers that so often stunt the potential of our students especially in the remote areas,” Hernandez said in statement.
She added that the LMS is ideal as the country disallows face-to-face classes amid the Covid-19 pandemic. ClassDrive works even offline unlike other LMS which works only when online.
Hernandez said ClassDrive uses a Universal Serial Bus (USB), which contains the instructions, lessons and examinations for the students. Their USBs are tamper-proof, she added.
“We all know that not everyone has access to internet that is why we introduced this kind of LMS,” she said.
ClassDrive can run on computers, laptop, televisions and android devices (cellphones) with or without connection of internet.
Hernandez said their LMS is cost effective. Citing a study, she said a student in a public school under the present set-up spends between P3,000 to P4,000 per year for their modules and other materials. She
added that they offer for as low as P850 (depending on the number of students) per student per year.
“Aside from being user-friendly and cost effective, the teachers will be spared from too much work of collating and printing the modules of the students,” she said.
Hernandez said the teachers will be given free training on how to use the ClassDrive.
