ANGELES CITY- After repeatedly denying that his Partido Abe Kapampangan local party would carry a presidential candidate, Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan finally let loose his preference the other night, as he openly endorsed the presidential bid of Davao City Rodrigo Duterte.

In a political rally held at downtown Plaza Miranda in this city Ssturday night, Pamintuan showed up and, before thousands, pledged the support of Kapampangans to Duterte’s candidacy.

He also raised the hand of Duterte and other candidates of the PDP-Laban to manifest his support for the entire slate of the Davao City mayor.

In previous press conferences, Pamintuan said his local Abe Kapampangan would not support specific presidential candidate and allow its officers and members full freedom to choose their bets.

Pamintuan has warmly welcomed presidential candidates Vice Pres. Jejomar Binay and Grace Poe to his city and held closed door meetings with them. But he has never openly endorsed either of the two.

Pamintuan, however, has been openly espousing a federal system of government espoused by Duterte.

This, even as the Liberal Party (LP) abandoned plans to hold in Angeles last Thursday a political rally at the Astro Park in this city, opting instead to limit events only in the capital city of San Fernando where Pampanga Gov. Lilia Pineda expressed support for the presidential bid of LP standard bearer Mar Roxas.

Pamintuan has been open about his criticism of Roxas who was noted to have harshly treated elected officials of Central Luzon during a meeting of the Regional Peace and Order Council held at Clark.
