Dutch brothers probed for death of compatriot

    PEÑARANDA, Nueva Ecija – Two Dutch brothers were placed under police investigation after their 50-year-old compatriot was recovered dead with multiple bullet wounds on his head hours after they were seen on board a van with a Filipina in barangay Sinisahan here on Friday.

    But Senior Supt. Roberto Aliggayu, Nueva Ecija police director, said they had to release Ronald Robert Overman, 44 and his younger brother, Peter Ewout, 41, after the paraffin test found them “negative” of powder burns.

    The Overmans voluntarily gave themselves to authorities after the body of Richard Bernardus Josefus, was found by recovered by police operatives in Barangay Sto. Tomas here, according to Aliggayu.

    The three were residing in Sitio Tambo, Barangay Sinasahan of this town. The Overmans whose address Putter 33, Ommen Netherlands were working as car dealers while the Josefus an upholsterer, police said.

    Investigation showed the victim was last seen alive on the eve of Thursday with the suspects along with a “jobless” woman, a resident of Barangay Hilera, Jaen, Nueva Ecija on board a gray Delica Cargo BX with license plate DSF 780. Peter was reportedly driving the van.

    Police recovered from the crime scene two empty shells and deformed slugs from a cal. 45 pistol, and the victim’s belongings such as five Euro currencies of different denominations, two passports on his name, a pair of brown shoes and black sandals, an iPOd and assorted medicines.

    Aliggayu said police continue to conduct a full-dressed investigation as police have yet to ascertain the motive behind the killing.
