SAN ANTONIO, Zambales (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) urged artists in the creative industry to register their groups for better opportunities.

Republic Act 11904, otherwise known as the Philippine Creative Industries Development Act (PCIDA), mandates promoting and developing domestic creative industries by protecting and strengthening the rights and capacities of “Malikhaing Pinoy”.

During the Zambulat Arts and Music Festival 2024, DTI Provincial Director Enrique Tacbad emphasized the importance of registering artists groups with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

“Registration of artists groups will give them legal personality, create a brand and be known for a brand they want to establish and to tap different opportunities that will help them achieve and realize their mission and vision,” he said.

The provisions of the PCIDA will be a great venue for helping the creative industry.

PCIDA offers development programs for the different creative industry domains such as infrastructure, research and innovation, digitalization of the creative industries, creative voucher system, creative industries investment priority plan, and access to credit and financial instruments.

It likewise offers creative instruction and education, creative industry data and information management, the creative industry development fund, public-private partnership, the Philippine Creative Cities network, the local culture and arts council, a one-stop registration center, and the Philippine Creative Industries Month.

Tacbad shared that any creative industry entity may engage with DTI to propose activities that will promote the development of the industry.

“One of the programs is the Lungsod Lunsad, which is open to all interested cities nationwide. Eventually, it can increase the economic and employment contribution to the Philippine Creative Industries to support economic recovery and growth,” he furthered.

Zambulat Arts and Music Festival 2024 aims to promote and celebrate the arts and culture of Zambales through workshops, booths, exhibits, and musical performances.

It was organized in partnership with Casa San Miguel in San Antonio town, and other local artists. (CLJD/RGP, PIA Region 3-Zambales)
