DTI Zambales celebrates Consumer Welfare Month

OLONGAPO CITY – The Zambales office of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd) Zambales and Olongapo City led the celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month 2019 at Activity Center, SM City Olongapo Central.

The celebrations had for its theme: “Sustainable Consumption: Understanding the Impact of Consumer’s Choice in a Shared Environment.”

DTI-Zambales provincial director Leonila Baluyut said the call of the celebrations is not only for development but also for sustainability: “By taking care of our environment while having development.”

She cited as example utilizing reusable containers instead of styrofoam.

Three simultaneous activities comprised the celebrations, namely poster-making contest, training on entrepreneurial mindset, and trade fair.

A total of 35 entries from different high schools and colleges in Zambales and Olongapo were registered in the poster-making contest, won by Acel Jules Laborce of Zambales National High School in San Narciso, Zambales for a cash prize of P3,000. Landing 2nd place was Phyll Jan Orcino of San Antonio National High School, San Antonio, Zambales who received P2,000; 3rd place, Dexter Arañas of James L. Gordon Integrated School, Olongapo City receiving P1,000. Other participants received P200 as consolation prizes.

The winners will participate in the regional poster-making contest.
