The Department of Trade and Industry Regional Office III (DTI-3) is warning the public and businessmen from engaging the services of unauthorized individuals who promise to facilitate the registration of their business name, whether online or thru personal transaction.

This warning against illegal fixers was given by DTI after reports of individuals charging fees for the online registration of the business names of MSMEs. DTI-3 Regional Director Judith P. Angeles deplored the practice as illegal and insensitive at this time of the Covid-19 pandemic.

While the DTI is now providing online business name registration(BNR), the agency does not authorize any individual or organization to facilitate business name registration and charge exorbitant registration fees except those that are legally acceptable fees for business name registration.

Director Angeles further said that registrants should ask for an Official Receipt as proof of payment for their business name registration. The registration can be done online and fees can be paid through Paymaya, GCash or registrants can pay at the nearest provincial office in their area.

Fees for business name registration depend on the geographical scope of the business name. For BNR with barangay scope, the authorized fee is Php 200 + 30 (for documentary stamps), for municipal/city scope, the fee is Php 500 + 30, for regional scope the fee is Php 1,000 + 30, while for BNR that are national in scope, the authorized fee is Php 2,000  + 30.

The DTI also said that businessmen can go online to www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph to download the application form and apply for their business name. Inquiries may also be made at helpdesk@bnrs.dti.gov.ph.
