TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac started rolling its 2023 Diskwento Caravan in the municipality of Victoria.
It aims to give consumers access to basic necessities and prime commodities at discounted prices.
DTI Tarlac Chief Trade Industry Development Specialist Florencia Balilo said the activity seeks to provide benefits to consumers and educate them on their rights.
“One of the directions of DTI is to provide quality consumer products at reasonable prices, thus the conduct of Diskwento Caravan. The Consumer Protection Division of DTI seeks to implement measures to ensure that consumers get the best value for their money,” Balilo furthered.
A total of 19 retailers, manufacturers, and distributors joined the event as well as some local entrepreneurs from the town.
Likewise, In-Store Diskwento Caravan was organized in the various branches of participating establishments in the province offering school and office supplies at discounted prices.
Simultaneously, members of the Victoria Tarlac Livelihood Association participated in the Consumer Awareness and Responsiveness Education Seminar, and Fair Trade Laws Seminar.
“As consumer welfare advocates, everyone is encouraged to assert their consumer rights while at the same time practicing responsible purchase activities,” Balilo added.
Moreover, she thanked the municipal government for its collaboration in the conduct of the caravan.
“Our gratitude to the municipal government of Victoria, especially to Mayor Rex Villa Agustin and to the various manufacturers and retailers participating in the event for partnering with DTI in this endeavor,” Balilo said.
Diskwento Caravan, one of the regular programs of DTI, is aligned with the thrust of the agency to advocate consumer welfare. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
