TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted a saturation drive at the public market of Mayantoc, Tarlac.
The activity, in partnership with the Federation of DTI Accredited Consumer Organizations of Region 3 and the municipal government, is part of the consumer protection mandate of the agency in line with Republic Act No. 7394 otherwise known as the Consumer Act of the Philippines.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said the initiative seeks to provide services both to consumers and local government units (LGUs).
“This activity aims to assist LGUs to strengthen the advocacy on the implementation of the Law on Weights and Measures to protect the interest and promote the welfare of the consumers,” Balilo explained.
A total of 50 analog and digital weighing scales inspected were found to be accurate and in good working condition.
