TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) encouraged existing and aspiring micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to formalize and register their business.
This was through a regional roadshow in Tarlac City attended by more than 100 potential and existing MSMEs and Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO) staff from across the province.
DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo explained that the roadshow targets to raise awareness on important policies and procedures related to business registration and legalization.
“The activity aims to inform business owners and would-be entrepreneurs about the DTI and SEC business name policies and procedures, encourage potential and non-registered MSMEs to formalize their business, and explore Sole Proprietorship and One-Person Corporation (OPC) as possible business structures they can venture into,” she said.
During the event, DTI and SEC reiterated that business registration provides establishments legal identity and licenses to operate.
Moreover, it builds trust and confidence among customers and potential investors.
One of the participants, Kristoffer Elaisto, expressed his strong interest in gaining more knowledge about OPC to further expand his business.
“I believe that as my business prospers, it also contributes to the growth and development of my employees, the community where my business is located, and even the local economy,” he stressed.
Topics discussed include business registration or a one-person corporation, business name registration for sole proprietorship, and Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE) Registration.
BMBE is defined as any business entity or enterprise engaged in the production, processing or manufacturing of products or commodities. (CLJD/TJBM-PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
