DTI holds Sweet Potato Processing Skills Training in San Clemente

TARLAC CITY (PIA) — A total of 29 residents in San Clemente, Tarlac benefitted from the Sweet Potato Processing Skills Training of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Attendees include members of women’s association; work immersion trainees; and micro, small, and medium entrepreneurs.

DTI Tarlac OIC-Provincial Director Zaida Garibay noted that the activity, which was conducted in partnership with the municipal Public Employment Service Office, seeks to create budding entrepreneurs that will boost the economy.

“The training encourages attendees to consider entrepreneurship as their source of income since it develops know-how and introduces new products using affordable and readily available raw materials that they can produce and sell easily,” Garibay said.

Topics discussed by Negosyo Center San Clemente Business Counselor Anthony Corpuz include characteristics of an entrepreneur, rewards and risks of entrepreneurship, business opportunities, and requirements and steps in securing business permits.

Likewise, Arceli Oriondo of Omarasa Food Products shared the process of making jam, candy, chips, and snacks using sweet potatoes, and her entrepreneurial journey through the assistance of DTI. (CLJD/GLSB-PIA 3)
