BALANGA CITY- The Department of Trade and Industry held on Tuesday a poster- making contest at Bulwagan II here in celebration of the Consumer Welfare Month.
“The contest has for the theme ‘Sapat na Impormasyon: Susi sa Wastong Paggamit ng Enerhiya through Poster Making’,” DTI Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug said.
Some 24 students from different private and public high schools in the province joined in the tilt participated in by 26 coaches and two division schools supervisors. Cabahug cited the importance of energy usage and how to save it.
She encouraged the students to be of help in saving energy for the future. “Energy power conservation is tantamount to our daily lives and its theme is very timely especially now that we are experiencing power shortage,” she pointed out.
Romeo Layug, school division coordinator, emphasized the importance of power conservation and encouraged the participants to be creative. Layug, City Administrator Rudy de Mesa and Michael Mateo of Michael Photography were the judges.
The winners were: 1st Prize (P3,000) – Jennel Tuddao of Mariveles National High School, Poblacion, Mariveles, Bataan; 2nd Prize (P2,000) – Crystel Manalansan of Balsik National High School, Hermosa, Bataan; and 3rd Prize (P1,000) – Rembrant Flores of Mabatang National High School, Abucay, Bataan.
Eloisa D. Malibiran, DTI provincial staff, welcomed and thanked all the participants. Before the announcement of winners, Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas Senior Specialist Ma. Lourdes Laconsay made a briefing on bank notes like denominations and how money is made and the money making process.
“Ingatan natin ang ating salapi sapagka’t larawan ito ng ating lahi,” she said, quoting BSP Governor president Amando Tetangco.
