DTI grants P200k worth of machines to bagmakers

    BALANGA CITY – The Department of Trade and Industry has assisted in the form of a grant the Mariveles Bagmakers Cooperative of Mariveles, Bataan “to further enhance the quality of their products and increase production.”

    DTI Region 3 director Blesila Lantayona and provincial director Yay Lasam handed out a bartack and an embroidery machines worth P200,000 to the bagmakers.

    “Aside from processed fish, Bataan is also known for bags like backpacks, traveling bags and high-end bags na pinag-aagawan ng mga buyers,” she said.

    Jane Manansala, coop chairperson, said that with the machines, the quality of the bags they produce will further improve. “Titibay ang mga tahi nito at basta nalaman ng mga sanay sa bag na gumagamit kami ng bartack machine, lalo silang maeeganyo na mamili sa amin,” she said.

    The organization that was formed three years ago has more than 50 members who have under their employ under part-time basis more than 100 sewers.

    Their products of various sizes, colors and shapes are on display for sale at the Galing Bataan Trade Fair in the Bataan capitol compound.
