BALANGA City, Bataan: The Department of Trade and Industry in partnership with GNPower Dinginin Ltd. Co. hosted a one-day livelihood training for cancer patients on the preparation of
dishwashing liquid here Friday.
Veronica Señoreses of DTI – Bataan led the seminar held at the La Arnie’s Farm in Barangay Munting Batangas aimed at introducing the 35 members of the Bataan Cancer Society and
support group to additional source of income for their treatments and recovery.
Señoreses demonstrated the step-by-step process on how to create a dishwashing liquid, starting from mixing the water with the surfactant, then adding the degreaser, foam booster,
scented oils, and coloring agents. Later, the participants created their own dishwashing solutions.
GNPD that has seven volunteers to the training donated 100 dishwashing solution sets to all the members of the Bataan Cancer Society and support group that the trainees can use to
make up to 13 liters of dishwashing liquid.
The activity was part of GNPD’s community outreach project known as “Saysay”. Project Saysay falls under the GNPD-CSR Brand GABAY. GNPD said this brand is the umbrella upon which the corporate social responsibility team formulates community initiatives that help safeguard quality access.
The GNPD volunteers and the cancer patients and support group sang and danced together for which Arnie Santos, president of the Bataan Cancer Society and support group remarked “Sino
mag-aakalang may sakit tayo? Wala tayong sakit!”
The volunteers gave each patient love letters before they left, expressing their gratitude for the time they spent together and the hope and prayers for speedy recovery.
GNPD considers initiatives like this as vivid reminder that more than powering the grid through efficient and affordable energy solutions, it is also inclined to power hope in the community.
“Lighting up their hearts one by one, Project Saysay is a progressive avenue that take social development programs to the next level by encouraging volunteerism among the workforce
and empowering them to reach out by choosing their beneficiaries, depending on which one is closest to their hearts,” GNPD said. (30)
