TARLAC CITY (PIA) — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conducted skills training for Aeta and upland farmers in Bamban, Tarlac.

They are part of Milamu Lamu Inc. located in barangay San Martin that is engaged in papaya, banana, turmeric, ginger, white yam and citronella production.

DTI OIC-Provincial Director Florencia Balilo said the capacity building activity will aid the beneficiaries in developing a new and sustainable source of income out of their harvests.

“It aims to develop food processing skills in the community in order to add value to their harvests, encourage farmers to increase the production of their crops, and introduce new products that would bring about investments and generate employment and income,” she added.

The beneficiaries were trained on the basics of producing banana chips, white yam chips, ginger candy and ginger powder under the supervision of Danilo Gacusan

Balilo assured the continuous monitoring and support of DTI to Milamu Lamu Inc. through its business development programs.
