TARLAC CITY (PIA) – Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Tarlac assisted local micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to further improve their products through the One Town, One Product (OTOP) Next Gen Program.

Under this program, a series of activities were organized to help MSMEs compete in the local and global markets through product innovation.

“OTOP is one of the best programs of DTI since we were able to develop and improve products that have market potential,” DTI Tarlac Division Chief Zaida Garibay said.

About 23 MSMEs participated in the Assessment, Consultation and Triage (ACT) session which is a one-on-one product development consultation with designers Vanessa Umali and Maiko Pascual.

Garibay explained that ACT session’s expected outputs include new packaging and labels for the food sector, and new products and prototypes for the non-food sector.

DTI also organized a seminar on Trends and Updates to present the importance of product development, and the upcoming trends for 2023.

In conclusion, Garibay encouraged the local businesses to maximize the program’s assistance in elevating the quality and sustainability of their products.
