ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija – An alleged drug peddler from Angeles City in Pampanga was killed while his companion managed to escape in an encounter with policemen in Barangay Sta. Lucia Young here at about 7:40 p.m. Monday.

Municipal police chief Major Jaime Ferrer identified the fatality as Miles Lindsey Dugay, 38, of Pinatubo St., Clarkview Subd., Angeles City.

His unidentified cohort who was wearing black jacket and helmet fled towards Aliaga town on board a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, police said.

Ferrer said anti-drug operatives conducted a buy-bust operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency but the suspect allegedly fired at the lawmen upon sensing “that he was transacting with a police poseur-buyer.”

“(This)  prompted the police officers to defend themselves and returned fire against suspect hitting his body fatally that caused his instantaneous death while his cohort fled going to Aliaga,” Ferrer said in his report to Nueva Ecija police director Col. Rhoderick Campo.

There was no injury on the part of operating team, Ferrer added.

Investigators recovered from the place of encounter the suspect’s .45 caliber pistol, 34 sachets of shabu with estimated worth of P30,000 and the buy-bust money.
