IBA, Zambales — A suspected drug gang leaders identified as a high value individual in the police drug watchlist was arrested by police operatives in a buy-bust operation Monday.
Zambales police director Col. Romano Velayo Cardiño identified the suspect as Arjay Ramat, alyas “PG”, 35, of 343 Castillo Street, Barangay Pamatawan, Subic, alleged leader of the Ramat Drug Group in police files.
Police report said Ramat was arrested after a police poseur-buyer was able to purchase a sachet of shabu worth P1,000 from him during the operation laid out by operatives of the Castillejos Municipal Police Station headed by Major Richard Fortaleza together with provincial drug enforcement unit and the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company at Purok 6, Barangay Del Pilar, Castillejos.
Ramat cohorts were able to escape and are now the subject of a police manhunt.
Recovered from the suspect were the buy-bust item of one sachet of suspected shabu; the P1,000 bill buy-bust money; 12 sachets of suspected shabu; one coin purse.
All 13 sachets of suspected shabu seized from the suspect totaled 26.6 grams carrying an estimated value of P180,000.
Ramat is now locked up at the Castillejos Municipal Police Station jail facing charges for violation of RA 9165.
“The Zambales PNP will exert all efforts to rid the province of lawless elements particularly illegal drugs and continuously oversee the welfare of the people and ensure that peace and order in the community is maintained at all times,” said Cardiño as a warning to criminal elements in the province.
