ZARAGOZA, Nueva Ecija – An alleged drug trafficker in the watchlist of distant Cabanatuan City police station was killed in a buybust operation in Barangay Concepcion here about 7:10 p.m. Monday.

Major Jaime Ferrer, town police chief, identified the suspect who died in a gunfight as Enrique Tagle, resident of Imelda District, Cabanatuan City.

Ferrer said the operation against Tagle was hatched, commissioning an undercover policeman, by the station’s intelligence and drug enforcement unit upon confirming that the he was dealing illegal drugs in the area.

The suspect, however, fired a .38 revolver to the operatives prompting “the police officers to defend themselves and returned fire,” which resulted to his death, police reported.

No one was hurt among the lawmen, according to Ferrer.

“The suspect is included in the drug watch list of Cabanatuan City PS (police station),” Ferrer said.

Probers recovered from the suspect 12 sachets of shabu, the P500 marked bill, the revolver, and a tricycle.
