TALAVERA, Nueva Ecija — A driver found himself in deep trouble for allegedly wagering the money he collected on an online cockfight.
Police identified the suspect as Leovino Berin, 43, resident of Barangay Bangad, Cabanatuan City.
Investigation disclosed that Berin and his helper, Jefferson Inantay, both employees of the Cabanatuan City-based LILIII Pet Supplies were travelling from Pangasinan on Thursday night with the P79,000 collection when they stopped in a restaurant along the national road in this municipality.
To Inantay’s surprise, Berin reportedly took a total of P24,750 from their collection money and allegedly made a bet on an e-sabong cockfight.
This prompted Inantay to report the incident to their employer Luciano Llanillo who sought assistance from the police manning Outpost 3 here, report said.
Criminal charges of qualified theft were levelled against the suspect.
