IBA, Zambales –The Department of Public Works and Highways-Zambales 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) conducted a comprehensive inspection of roads and other vital public structures within its jurisdiction on July 29 to assess the impact of Typhoon Carina.
District Engineer Hermon Ines emphasized that this inspection was essential for determining whether any damage was incurred from the typhoon and the enhanced southwest monsoon, and for understanding the full extent of their impact.
Ines was joined by Assistant District Engineer Allan Ladines, Construction Section Chief Dennis Nacin, and Engr. Armando Paneda from the Maintenance Section as they carefully assessed any potential infrastructure damage from these severe weather conditions and identified immediate concerns for necessary repairs.
“The severity of the weather disturbances required a thorough evaluation to address potential hazards and ensure the safety and functionality of public infrastructure. This assessment is needed to guide the implementation of effective response measures and the prioritization of actions to mitigate future risks,” Ines emphasized.
He also reiterated the DEO’s commitment to maintaining the integrity and safety of public infrastructure post-disaster, highlighting their dedication to swift and effective response efforts through evaluating damage and implementing essential repairs and improvements. Press release
