CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) upgraded a 1.478-kilometer roadway at barangay Tramo in Sta. Rosa, Nueva Ecija.
It was formerly a gravel surface causing dust-related issues and inconvenience to about 1,500 residents.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the two-lane local road not only aims to enhance the accessibility of the residents and motorists but to also give convenience to the local farmers as they will no longer need to travel roughly on the earth road.
“The completion of this project shows how our implemented infrastructure development can transform communities by providing a better alternate route. This project has not only enhanced connectivity and accessibility but has also improved the lives of the locals,” he added.
For his part, Barangay Tramo Kagawad Joseph Mendiola II said the project was beneficial for the community as they will now have a more convenient way to get to their destination.
“Ngayon, nang magawa ‘yang kalsada na ‘yan, natuwa kami dahil siyempre, nakikita namin nagkakaroon ng pag-unlad. Sa transportasyon, napabilis; sa pag pasok ng mga bata, napabilis. Hindi ka na iikot sa trapik para lang makapasok,” he pressed.
The P27.7-million project was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act and was part of the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program. (CLJD-PIA 3)
