CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) began major repairs on a 1.532-kilometer section of Bangad-Fort Magsaysay Road in barangay Patalac, Cabanatuan City.

The project aims to make the road safer to travel, reduce congestion, and improve traffic flow along the city’s main roads.

DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the village heavily relies on the thoroughfare to access several towns and cities in Nueva Ecija and as an alternate route to Fort Magsaysay.

The P22.3-million project funded under the 2023 national budget is part of DPWH’s efforts to improve the condition of national roads, which is crucial for economic growth and development.

“The repair of this road section will be of great help to the people, especially those who are dependent on it to get to their destinations. Our office will exert all efforts to finish this project as soon as possible so that the motorists and commuters can fully benefit from it,” Trinidad assured.

As of May 2, the road rehabilitation project is 47.32 percent complete.

The agency targets its completion mid-third quarter this year to improve road safety and enhance travel experience. (CLJD-PIA 3)
