TARLAC CITY (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a 133.70-square-meter multipurpose building for senior citizens in Barangay San Vicente, San Manuel, Tarlac, providing a dedicated space that promotes their welfare and active participation.
The facility features a multipurpose hall, kitchen, toilets, air conditioning units, an office, and CCTV cameras, ensuring comfort, safety, and accessibility for its users.
Designed to host recreational activities, social gatherings, and community programs, the building will also serve as a venue for health screenings and access to government services for senior citizens.
DPWH Tarlac 1st District Engineer Neil Farala underscored the importance of the project in uplifting the lives of senior citizens.
“This building represents more than just bricks and mortar; it’s an investment in the well-being and happiness of our senior citizens,” Farala said.
The P4.88-million project was funded under the 2025 national budget through the agency’s Basic Infrastructure Program. It forms part of the national government’s efforts to promote inclusive development and strengthen social welfare programs for vulnerable sectors, particularly the elderly.
The initiative supports the administration’s goal of enhancing social protection, improving access to basic services, and promoting the well-being of Filipino senior citizens, as outlined in the Philippine Development Plan and the Bagong Pilipinas governance agenda.
Through projects like this, the government continues to build resilient, inclusive communities where senior citizens remain active, engaged, and supported. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Tarlac)
