CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) currently implements a preventive maintenance project along the barangay Baluarte and Malimba sections of Daang Maharlika in Gapan City.
It aims to enhance road durability, improve transportation network, and generate long-term cost savings by reducing the need for frequent repairs.
DPWH Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Trinidad said the ongoing asphalt overlay project spans 1.41 kilometers on the four-lane carriageway.
The agency aims to optimize its efforts in maintaining high-quality road infrastructure to minimize disruptions to traffic flow within the province as much as possible.
“Our office wants to ensure that upon completion of the project, commuters and motorists can look forward to a smoother and more comfortable journey on Gapan City’s major roads,” he furthered.
Implemented alongside recently completed asphalt overlay projects in the city, DPWH allocated P76.1 million for the ongoing project.
It is part of the agency’s Asset Preservation Program that was funded under the 2023 General Appropriations Act. (CLJD-PIA 3)
