CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga (PIA) — The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed the construction of a P98.9 million concrete road stretching 860 lineal meters in Porac, Pampanga.

Funded under the 2024 General Appropriations Act, the newly paved road aims to improve accessibility and ease mobility for residents, particularly those traveling to and from the Porac Municipal Hall to avail of government services.

DPWH Pampanga 2nd District Engineer Gregorio Audea, Jr. said the road offers enhanced safety and convenience for all users, including motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists.

“The impact on local safety and ease of travel will be significant. The newly concreted surface provides a safer and more dependable route for residents, making access to public services more efficient,” he said.

Audea also emphasized the road’s potential to help boost local economic activity by improving the flow of goods and services, strengthening inter-barangay connectivity, and opening opportunities for small businesses within and around Barangay Cangatba.

The project forms part of the DPWH’s sustained efforts to promote countryside development by building infrastructure that improves access to markets, schools, and essential services, thereby uplifting the quality of life in rural communities.

This initiative fulfills President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s 2024 State of the Nation Address commitment to expand road networks and upgrade infrastructure in rural areas as part of his administration’s strategy to drive inclusive and sustainable development. (CLJD/RPQ, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
