CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) – Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) finished the construction of a flood mitigation project in Rizal, Nueva Ecija.
Implemented by Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office, the structure spans 262 lineal meters traversing barangays Poblacion East and Calaocan.
District Engineer Armando Manabat said the completion would help prevent any possible water overflow that could cause damage to agricultural lands and residential areas.
“As one of our priorities is the safety of our constituents, we will continue to build flood control structures that will help reduce the adverse effects of flooding,” Manabat emphasized.
These include lower than expected agricultural production, or losses in livelihoods especially those living in floodplains.
P48 million was allotted under the 2022 General Appropriations Act.
